'Star Wars Episode 7' Script Done, Filming to Begin in May

J.J. Abrams, who will direct the new 'Star Wars' film, confirms that 'Breaking Bad' actor Jesse Plemons is being considered for a role in the movie.

"Star Wars Episode 7" is ready to enter the production phase. Director J.J. Abrams revealed at the TCA winter press tour to discuss his new TV show "" that the script for the upcoming sci-fi movie was done.

"That's the current plan," he said of the plan to kick off the principal photography in May in England. "We're working really hard and we've got our script and we're in deep prep. Full steam ahead."

Asked about the casting rumor mentioning "" actor as a favorite for the lead role, Abrams confirmed, "He is one of the actors that we've talked to, yeah." The filmmaker, however, still kept the plot under tight wraps as saying, "We can't talk about story yet."

On whether he planned to continue to direct the next "Star Wars" films or pass the baton to another director, Abrams responded, "I'm just focusing on Episode VII right now, that's the focus."

"Star Wars Episode 7", written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, is planned to kick off the new trilogy on December 18, 2015. The next two films are slated to be released in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
