'Guardians of the Galaxy' Promo Art Gives First Look at Masked Star-Lord
Movie

The Guardians leader played by Chris Pratt is wearing a mask and wielding a hand-to-hand combat weapon along with the other fully-armed heroes.

AceShowbiz - A first look at Star-Lord wearing a mask is unearthed in "Guardians of the Galaxy" new promo art which is plastered on Zak! Designs' upcoming line of drink tumblers and water bottles. The Guardians leader played by Chris Pratt in the film is holding a glowing object in one hand and clutching a melee weapon in another.

The other heroes, except for Vin Diesel's Groot who uses his ability to control trees and plants as a weapon, are fully armed as well. Zoe Saldana's Gamora is wielding a sword, Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon has his gun ready, and Dave Bautista's Drax the Destroyer is holding twin daggers in both hands.

In a new interview with Total Film, Saldana admits she was baffled at the idea of the Guardians film at first. "I was like, Guardians?" the actress recalls her initial reaction. "There's a person that's a tree and there's a racoon? Apparently they fight with 'The Avengers'. I didn't even know who The Avengers were!"

An action-packed, epic space adventure, "Guardians of the Galaxy" expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe.

To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits - Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy's fate in the balance.

Directed by James Gunn, the tentpole project is due Stateside in August 1. The movie is supported by the likes of Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly, and Glenn Close.
