Red Hot Chili Peppers is reportedly joining headliner Bruno Mars for the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show on February 2 in New Jersey. A source told the Los Angeles Times that Mars would make the official announcement during a game between New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, January 11.

Mars' spokeswoman has declined to confirm the report. However, Red Hot Chili Peppers will be in the tri-state area as they're already scheduled to headline the WFAN-sponsored "Big Hello to Brooklyn" bash on Saturday night, February 1 at the Barclays Center.

Several big names in music like Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, Drake and The Roots are lined up to play concerts during Super Bowl week. Kendrick Lamar will headline ESPN's Super Bowl Party on Pier 36 and Janelle Monae will perform at Lehman College on January 28 for VH1's Super Bowl Blitz.

Red Hot Chili Peppers is currently on their ongoing tour following the release of their tenth studio album, "I'm With You", in 2011. After the Super Bowl show, they'll head to the Philippines before visiting South America in late March and April for music festivals including Lollapalooza Chile and Lollapalooza Argentina.
