'Fault in Our Stars' Actors React to Movie's Tagline 'One Sick Love Story'

While Shailene Woodley says she would have chosen something different if she were the decision maker, Ansel Elgort has no complaint at all.

AceShowbiz - "The Fault in Our Stars" actress Shailene Woodley and her co-star Ansel Elgort broke silence on the mixed responses regarding the movie's tagline "One Sick love Story". It apparently caused controversy due to the negative connotation.

Woodley plays a cancer patient named Hazel who falls in love with a boy (Elgort) she met at a cancer support group. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she admitted that, though she ultimately supported it, she found it a bit unsettling.

"I had a really strong response to it," she said. "It's definitely - it's not a tagline that I probably would have chosen by any means. But I think that there's so many people who are so passionate about this book that there's nothing that will ever satisfy everyone."

The "Divergent" star went on, "So I think it was just up to the discretion of the marketing mavens. For me, it was - yeah, not something I would have chosen. But it seems like half the people love it and half the people don't like it."

Elgort, meanwhile, loves the tagline. "I have no problem with the tagline. It's cheeky," he wrote on Twitter.

John Green, who wrote the book which the movie is based on, also likes it although "that's not a very good tag line." "I found it dark and angry in the same way that Hazel is (at least at times) dark and angry in her humor," he explained on his Tumblr.

The author elaborated, "I like the tag line because it says, literally, the sick can also have love stories. Love and joy and romance are not just things reserved for the well."

Woodley "did agree with the points that [Green] made." The movie starlet who chopped off her hair to play the role in the movie said, "I could see where he was coming from," adding, "But it's still not something that I would have chosen."

Directed by Josh Boone, the romantic drama will hit theaters across the country on June 6, 2014.
