Anna Paquin's Rogue Scene Cut From 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'
Movie

The rescue sequence deleted during the editing process is the one and only scene that featured the runaway mutant.

AceShowbiz - One familiar mutant has been removed from "X-Men: Days of Future Past". Director Bryan Singer, who is currently busy in the editing room, says that Anna Paquin's scene has been deleted from the final version that will hit U.S. theaters on May 23, 2014.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the discarded scene was a rescue sequence shot early in the film production, and was the only one that featured Rogue. It also featured Magneto (Ian McKellen), Professor X (Patrick Stewart), and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore).

"Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous," the director explains. "It's a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it."

"But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she's in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won't appear in it."

Singer says he already told Paquin about the removal. "She completely understood," he states. "It's very disappointing, but she's very professional and she knows that stuff happens, particularly with material you shoot early on in production. Films evolve."

The director notes that the decision was purely made due to creative reason and had nothing to do with Paquin and her performance. "She did a fantastic job," he gushed. "She was awesome in the sequence. She's a brilliant actress. I would work with her in a heartbeat."

The film stars Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Michael Fassbender (young Magneto), James McAvoy (young Prof. X), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Halle Berry (Storm), Ellen Page (Kitty), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Omar Sy (Bishop), and many more.
