AceShowbiz - More than a dozen of Grammy Awards-winning musicians team up to celebrate the 100th anniversary of ASCAP, the professional membership of those who write, compose and publish music. They released a birthday song called "More Than the Stars" and its accompanying video on Tuesday, December 17.

The song came as an unexpected result of "Why We Create Music", a documentary film by ASCAP which explores and examines the power of music by performers like Ne-Yo, Lady Antebellum, Aloe Blacc and Bill Withers. Also participating in the project are Dan Wilson and Amy Grant.

The star-studded video opens with Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley singing the track in a recording studio while other musicians are writing songs and playing some musical instruments. It was directed by fillmaker Michael Marantz, who also helmed "Why We Create Music" documentary.

Commenting on "More Than the Stars", recent ASCAP Foundation Champion Award honoree Ne-Yo said, "It's really special for me to be a part of something that speaks so heavily to the art of songwriting and what it does to people... a kind of 'We Are the World' for songwriters. The song came out fantastic. The film came out fantastic. And I was happy to be a part of it."

ASCAP's official 100th birthday is February 13, 2014.
