New 'Terminator' TV Series in the Works With 'X-Men' Writers

Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, who pen 'X-Men: First Class', will write the TV project which is said to follow a critical moment from the first 'Terminator' film.
New 'Terminator' TV Series in the Works With  'X-Men' Writers

Terminator may be heading back to the small screen. A new TV series based on the James Cameron-created franchise is currently being developed by Skydance Prods. and Annapurna Pictures.

The television project will be written and executive produced by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, who wrote superhero-themed feature films "" and "". Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier will also serve as executive producers.

The new series will follow a critical moment from the original 1984 "Terminator" movie, but will take it in a completely different direction. Other details are still kept under wraps, but the small-screen version is expected to have intersecting narratives with the upcoming film trilogy which is also in the works.

Paramount, Skydance and Annapurna team up for the rebooted trilogy, with the first film slated for a July 2015 release. Kalogridis and Lussier will write the movie. No official cast is announced for the movie yet, but was said circling the role of John Connor.

, and were rumored eying the role of John's mother Sarah, while , and were mentioned as the potential actors to play young Kyle Reese, who will father John.

The sci-fi film franchise, starring as the title character, has spawned a TV spin-off, "", which aired in 2008-2009. and starred as Sarah and John Connor respectively.
