Fifth 'Bourne' Film Gets August 14, 2015 Release Date

The yet-to-be-titled new installment of 'Bourne' franchise will open in U.S. theaters alongside 'The Smurfs 3'.

AceShowbiz - The untitled new Bourne movie is set to be released in summer 2015, Universal Pictures has officially confirmed. The fifth installment of "Bourne" franchise will hit U.S. theaters on August 14, opening opposite "The Smurfs 3".

As it has been reported, "Fast Five" helmer Justin Lin is on board to direct the follow-up to 2012's "The Bourne Legacy" based on a script by Anthony Peckham, whose works include "Invictus" and "Sherlock Holmes". Jeremy Renner will reprise his role as CIA Agent Aaron Cross.

Longtime "Bourne" producer Frank Marshall is returning to produce the new film alongside Jeffrey Weiner and Ben Smith for Captivate. Lin will also produce for his Perfect Storm Entertainment.

Universal has also set the release date for "Lucy", a Luc Besson-helmed film that stars Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman. The action-thriller flick, which follows a woman who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior, is slated to be released on August 8, 2014.
