'12 Years a Slave' and 'Breaking Bad' Lead 18th Annual Satellite Awards

Nominees list determined by a group of entertainment journalists mentioned the Steve McQueen drama and AMC series multiple times.

AceShowbiz - Fresh from leading the 2014 Indie Spirit Awards with seven nominations, Steve McQueen's "12 Years a Slave" is named the frontrunner nominee of the 18th Annual Satellite Awards. The International Press Academy has bestowed the drama about the struggle of a free black man to break from slavery, ten nominations.

The nominations, which were announced on Monday, December 2, also included "American Hustle" and "Gravity" in eight categories. Multiple nominations were also handed to "Rush", "Saving Mr. Banks" and "Inside Llewyn Davis".

Over at television categories, "Breaking Bad", "House of Cards" and "Orange is the New Black" equally landed four nominations out of 19 categories. Special awards such as Honorary Satellite Award; Breakthrough Performance Awards; Best Ensemble, Motion Picture; and Best Ensemble, Television were given to director Ryan Coogler; Michael B. Jordan and Sophie Nelisse; "Nebraska"; and "Orange is the New Black" respectively.

The award winners will be announced in a ceremony held March 9, 2014 in Los Angeles. Recipients for Mary Pickford Award, Nikola Tesla Award, Auteur Award will be announced in January 2014. Complete list of nominations is available at PressAcademy.com.
