The 'Captain Phillips' helmer is reportedly WB's top choice to direct the adaptation of Stephen King's novel, while Vin Diesel wants to work with the 'Life of Pi' director for the 'Kojak' movie.

AceShowbiz - As Scott Cooper's recent exit leaves the director's seat in "The Stand" vacant again, Warner Bros. is back in the search for a new helmer for the project. Latest report by Badass Digest says the studio is eying Paul Greengrass to take the said role in the big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's post-apocalyptic novel.
David Yates was earlier attached to direct with "Harry Potter" screenwriter Steve Kloves on board to write the potential trilogy, but the two departed in October 2011 because Yates felt it would work better as a miniseries.
Ben Affleck was later slated to take over the directing duty before he bowed out in August this year in favor of Batman role in "Man of Steel 2". Cooper was then tapped to direct and re-write "The Stand", but he also dropped out of the project reportedly due to creative differences.
Cary Fukunaga ("Jane Eyre"), Denis Villeneuve ("Prisoners"), and Daniel Espinosa ("Safe House") are reportedly also under consideration to replace Cooper.
While Greengrass is allegedly at the top of WB's whishlist for "The Stand", Vin Diesel has his own choice of director he wants to work with. The Dom of "Fast and Furious 6" hinted through a post on his Facebook page that he wished Ang Lee would direct "Kojak", Universal's movie adaptation of the 1970s crime drama series.
It's unclear whether the studio has had talks with the Oscar-winning director for "Kojak" or it's merely Diesel's personal wish. Scripted by "Skyfall" writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the upcoming movie is said to "re-imagine and con temporize" the New York-set cop drama.
