The performance that earned her Best Actress title at the Rome Film Festival is sadly declared ineligible to be included in the upcoming nominations of 2014 Golden Globe Awards.

AceShowbiz - Scarlett Johansson's performance in "Her" is out of contention at the Golden Globe Awards, Entertainment Weekly learns. Contrary to the Screen Actors Guild and the Academy Awards which both allow her to compete in the supporting actress category, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association won't be voting on her for the upcoming nomination.
Actors who lend their voice or give performance with the help of motion capture are overlooked by awards organization, partly due to argument that such role is a team work that relies not just on the actor but also visual effects artists and animators. Andy Serkis who played CGI-ed Gollum in "The Lord of the Rings" and Caesar in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" suffered the snub in the past years.
But unlike those motion-capture roles, ScarJo's performance in Spike Jonze-directed sci-fi romance "Her" is her voice alone without any aid of animators or visual effects artists. She plays Samantha, an artificial intelligence program, who forms an unlikely bond with a lone writer (Joaquin Phoenix). She speaks to him via a small speaker in his ear and sees the world through a camera pinned to his clothes.
"The Avengers" actress is praised by critics for creating a bright and playful character despite her lack of physical appearance. She was recently named Best Actress at the Rome Film Festival. The movie itself will be released in the United States on December 18 this year.
