'Good Dinosaur' Delay Causes Layoffs at Pixar

The layoffs, affecting an estimated 5 percent of Pixar's workforce, happen just a month after the studio closed its office in Canada, a home of nearly 100 staffers.

AceShowbiz - After closing its Vancouver office last month which resulted in nearly 100 jobs lost, Pixar now announces layoffs following the delay of its movie "The Good Dinosaur". Approximately 60 employees or 5|percent| of the studio's workforce was let go earlier this week.

"At Pixar, we are constantly re-evaluating the creative and business needs of our studio. With the release date change of 'The Good Dinosaur', we have realigned our production and support priorities, which includes a small reduction in our staffing levels," said a rep for the studio.

Director Bob Peterson dropped out of "Good Dinosaur" this August, and no replacement has been announced for the project. The animated movie was moved from May 30, 2014 to November 25, 2015, leaving Pixar without any release next year.

The story is set in a world where an asteroid didn't hit the Earth, thus allowing the creatures to keep living and evolving. It has Bill Hader, Lucas Neff, John Lithgow and Frances McDormand in the voice cast.
