Elena grows suspicious of Wes and turns to Aaron for help, while Damon is still held captive by Wes who has just been revealed as a part of a secret society.
'The Vampire Diaries' 5.09 Preview: Damon Becomes Experimental Subject

Damon ends up becoming Wes' (guest star Rick Cosnett) experimental subject in the next episode of "". In a preview for the upcoming outing, Damon is seen being tied and lying on a stretcher, asking what Wes is doing to him. Wes says, "I'm ready to take my work to the next lexel," before he punches Damon.

Elena is suspicious about Wes and his agenda, turning to Aaron (guest star ) for help as she grows so concerned about Damon. Later, when Damon tells Elena about a terrible ordeal in his past that he has kept secret for decades, she shares the disturbing information she just learned about her own family.

Stefan, meanwhile, continues to offer Katherine his support while trying to mask his own pain, until Caroline shows up with an unusual form of therapy. Elena tries to make amends with Caroline, and Aaron decides on a desperate course of action after a conversation with Dr. Wes.

"The Vampire Diaries" takes a week hiatus before returning with "The Cell" on Thursday, December 5 at 8/7c on The CW.
