AceShowbiz - Universal is looking to make a sequel to "The Best Man Holiday", hot on heels of the strong debut made by the movie on North American box office. According to Deadline, Malcolm D. Lee is negotiating his return to write, direct and produce the third film.

Sean Daniel is also in talks to come back as a producer along with Lee, but there is no word if Spike Lee who co-produced the first two films will return to his post behind the scenes. It's unclear either if the original cast have been contacted for another installment.

Made on a budget of $17 million, the second movie opened strong with an estimated $30 million and bowed at No. 2 after "Thor: The Dark World". It got a rare "A+" from CinemaScore and scored the fifth-largest opening ever for an R-rated romantic-comedy.

There's a 14-year gap between the first and the second films starring Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut and Terrence Howard. The original movie was released in 1994, debuting with $9M and helping usher in the era of aspirational African-American comedies.
