The network is well aware of the actor's personal struggles with substance abuse and wanted to make sure he delivered all 10 episode of season 1.

AceShowbiz - Jonathan Rhys-Meyers did not get his money until he completed the first season production of "Dracula". It has been reported that NBC kept the 36-year-old actor's salary and pay him small dispensations instead due to his history of going in an out of rehab.

Per THR, Rhys-Meyers is paid $100,000 per episode but substantial part of it was only delivered to him at the end of the season 1 production, which has been wrapped up in Budapest in summer. Rumor has it the star quietly returned to London while filming "Dracula" after a meltdown. He was hospitalized for a short time but managed to deliver all the 10 seasons. He reportedly returned to rehab as soon as filming was completed.

NBC was aware of Rhys-Meyers' struggle with substance abuse and approved the casting of him in "Dracula" after an increased scrutiny. NBC Entertainment chairman and former president of entertainment at Showtime, Bob Greenblatt, oversaw Rhys-Meyers while starring in "The Tudors". Thus, Greenblatt knows the actor's numerous personal problems that plagued the period drama series.

Nevertheless, production was completed and a source said Rhys-Meyers is "in a really good place, and he's healthy."
