When asked about sexualization of young female stars in entertainment industry, the 'Catching Fire' star says, 'For some disgusting reason, young sex sells even more.'

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Lawrence discussed sexualization of young female celebrities in entertainment industry in an interview with BBC Newsnight's Zoe Conway. Speaking to the reporter, the Katniss Everdeen of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" said, "It's a part of the entertainment industry that sells - sex sells. And for some disgusting reason, young sex sells even more."

When asked about her opinion of Miley Cyrus, the 23-year-old Oscar-winning actress explained, "It's not really something that I worry about because I feel like everybody's kind of got their own path and they have their own way of finding themselves. And for some people, that's how they feel best, that's how they feel sexy, that's how they want to perform. ... I'm just saying, to each their own."

Lawrence, who won Best Actress trophy at Academy Awards for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook", also talked about portraying body image in positive way via her character in "The Hunger Games". "When we were doing the first 'The Hunger Games', it was a big discussion, 'cause it's called 'The Hunger Games' - she's from District 12, she's obviously underfed, so she would be incredibly thin. But, I just kept saying, 'We have the ability to control this image that young girls are going to be seeing,' " she revealed.

"Girls see enough of this body that we can't imitate, that we'll never be able to obtain, these unrealistic expectations, and this is gonna be their hero, and we have control over that," Lawrence continued, adding that she once refused to lose weight for a role. "It's better to look strong and healthy," she explained.
