In a Facebook note, Kat explains, 'Even though I made a mistake in naming a lipstick 'Celebutard' I know what my real intentions were.'

AceShowbiz - Kat Von D has responded to harsh criticism concerning lipstick shade's name in her make-up line. In a Facebook note written on November 9, the tattoo artist admitted that she "made mistake" naming the shade "Celebutard", but she insisted that she did not mean to offend people.

"Even though I made a mistake in naming a lipstick, 'Celebutard' I know what my real intentions were. It's actually the opposite of what your perception portrays," she explained. "Of course, it doesn't make it right, and in all honesty I have no problem admitting when I've made a mistake. In fact, it was my idea to pull the product from the shelves as quickly as possible."

Kat previously was slammed because of the shade name "Celebutard". The color was pulled from Shepora stores after advocates and some angry people sparked online buzz about it, saying that the name suggested a not-so-bright celebrity and is associated with the word "retard."

"It should have never been on the shelves to begin with," said Faith Bodnar from Inclusion BC, a non-profit organization that promotes the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in community. "It's degrading, and there's no place for it."

Responding to the criticism, Shepora told CTV News that the color would be removed from stores. "It has come to our attention that the name of one shade of lipstick we carry has caused offense to some of our clients and others. We are deeply sorry for that," the company said in a statement.
