The singer cried as she sang the track off her album 'ARTPOP' at the inaugural awards show on Sunday, October 3 in NYC.

AceShowbiz - Lady GaGa gave an emotional debut live performance of "Dope", her track off upcoming album "ARTPOP", during Sunday night's inaugural 2013 YouTube Music Awards in New York City. The 27-year-old pop superstar cried during her rendition of the new addiction-themed song as she played the piano wearing a black cap and a plaid shirt.

"I promise this drink is my last one/ I know I f**ked up again/ Because I lost my only friend/ Just one last puff and two last regrets/ Three spirits and 12 lonely steps/ I need you more than dope," went the Rick Rubin-produced track co-written by GaGa supposedly about her own self-admitted addictions. This could explain the overwhelming emotional connection she had with the song during her performance.

Despite the emotional rendition, GaGa's tearful performance on October 3 reportedly wasn't lapped up by about 4,000 live stream viewers who did not bother to watch it through the end. Perhaps they were expecting to see the usually flamboyant and flashy artist in her eye-catching costumes (or otherwise the lack of it) during her typical up-tempo production numbers.

But if GaGa's onstage appearance departed from her usual antics, she kept her attention-grabbing ways on the red carpet, where she arrived without pants, wearing only a black leather shirt with matching black platform boots, eyeglasses and wide-brimmed hat over a dark, curly wig, topped with scary toothy grillz on her mouth.
