The acrobat, who got injured on Friday, October 1 in Las Vegas, is expected to be discharged from the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada soon.

AceShowbiz - An acrobat performing on the "Wheel of Death" during the Cirque du Soleil's "Zarkana" show at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Friday, October 1 night slipped and fell off from the 40-feet high rotating wheels. The unnamed male performer was rushed to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada where he is already recovering and will be released soon.

"During the 7pm performance of Zarkana last night an artist performing in the Wheel of Death act slipped and fell off the wheel," the Zarkana by Cirque du Soleil Facebook page announced on Saturday. "The show was halted and the artist was transported to UMC where he is in stable condition and is expected to be released from hospital in the next few days."

The accident comes days after the Quebec-based entertainment company was fined $25,235 for lapses relating to a June incident when French acrobat Sarah Guillot-Guyard fell 90 feet to her death while performing at the show "Ka" at the MGM Grand Hotel. Guillot-Guyard was already in the final scene, a mid-air battle where the performers were suspended in air, when the harrowing fall happened.

It was determined afterwards that the wire rope that linked her safety harness to the cable scraped against the suspension equipment causing her to be detached from it. The Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration said the equipment failed to match safety standards, citing along the MGM Grand Hotel for exposing its employees to workplace hazards brought on by the Cirque du Soleil shows.
