Movie

In the new drama, the 'Kill Your Darlings' star will reunite with James Watkins who previously directed him in 'The Woman in Black'.

AceShowbiz - Daniel Radcliffe is confirmed by BBC Films to lead "Gold", a movie about British famous middle distance runner Sebastian Coe. He will play the Olympic gold medalist in the film that will reunite him with director James Watkins ("The Woman in Black").

The movie will follow Coe's fierce rivalry with fellow athlete Steve Ovett in the years leading up to the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games. Driven hard by their families, the two young men rewrote the record books and captivated the country with their battle to be No. 1.

The script is penned by Oscar-winning scribe Simon Beaufoy ("Slumdog Millionaire") and Will Davies ("How to Train Your Dragon"), based on the book "The Perfect Distance" written by Pat Butcher who also acts as consultant on the big-screen project.

Filming is expected to begin in the U.K. and Russia in April next year.

Radcliffe was last seen playing poet Allen Ginsberg in biographical drama "Kill Your Darlings". He will next star in fantasy thriller "Horns" and indie romcom "The F Word".
