AceShowbiz - Julianne Hough has apologized for dressing up in blackface at a Halloween party which took place on Friday, October 25. After receiving backlash from internet users, Hough took to Twitter the next day to apologize and explain her action.

"I am a huge fan of the show 'Orange is the New Black', actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created," she wrote. "It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."

Previously on Friday, the "Safe Haven" actress was photographed dressing up as Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren, portrayed by Aduba on the popular comedy series. She wore dark make-up and styled her hair in knotted nubs similar to the fictional character. In addition, she wore orange uniform with loose gray shirt underneath. Hough also had a name tag featuring the character's photo. Some of her friends also dressed up as inmates and another friend played a prison warden.

After photos of her from the party emerged online, many people who found it offensive, wrote their comments on social media. A Twitter user wrote, "No, Julianne Hough. Just NO. I can't believe 'blackface is not okay' is a conversation we still need to have."
