Diddy talks about his father, Melvin Combs, for the first time, saying that his father was a drug dealer and was murdered when he was just 3 years old.

AceShowbiz - Sean "P. Diddy" Combs opens up about his father Melvin Combs for the first time, saying that Melvin was a drug dealer who was killed when the rapper was only 3 years old. Diddy reveals the story in a video called "Confessions" as he promotes his new cable channel, RevoltTV.
"I've never spoken openly about my father... but launching @Revolttv moved me to share and let ppl kno the truth," Diddy wrote on Twitter on Wednesday, October 23 and added the link to the video. In the 2-minute clip, Diddy says that he works hard because he does not want to be like his father.
"I don't have a lot of memories of my father," Diddy says in the video. "They say you can't miss something you never had, but that's only a little ways right. There's definitely been times as I've gotten older that I've missed my father - his presence - not being here and not having someone to ask manly advice. Just things that you would ask your father. Also things that you would celebrate with him that would make him proud."
"My father was a hustler, he was a drug dealer... so I learned early in life, there's only two ways out of that - dead or in jail, and [it] made me work even harder... Sometimes you can't just answer why things happen but I definitely think the route I went on - staying out the streets and hitting my books and trying to be somebody - I think he played a role in that... I had his hustler's spirit, his drive, his determination, his swag," he continues.
In the video, which was taken in his New York apartment, Diddy can be seen getting emotional. "My father's name was Melvin Combs and I'm Melvin's son, Sean Combs," he concludes.
In other news, Diddy recently revealed in an interview with Bloomberg that he wanted to be the first African American to own an NFL team. "I love sports, but I'm more of a owner type of guy, so I have aspirations to become - which it will happen - I will become the first African-American majority owner," he said.
"Not having a small stake but actually owning an NFL team. I think it's time for that. A majority of players that are in the NFL are African-American, but there are no African-American owners. So that's one of my dreams," he explained. Speaking of Jay-Z, who previously owned minor stake in Brooklyn Nets, Diddy said, "We're definitely friends but we push each other. It's what we're doing together to change the world."
