Fox wants to re-team the 'Rock of Ages' actor with his 'Oblivion' director Joseph Kosinski for the car racing drama.

AceShowbiz - Rumor has it, Tom Cruise is in talks to star in Fox's "Go Like Hell", a movie about real-life rivalry between Ford and Ferrari. The "Jack Reacher" actor is expected to reunite with Joseph Kosinski who directed him in post-apocalyptic sci-fi "Oblivion" already coming out in April this year.
The film is based on A.J. Baime's 2009 book "Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, and their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans." It revolves around the two's battle for dominance in the sports car marketplace which led to Ford challenging Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans race using a car designed by Carroll Shelby.
The "Mission: Impossible" male lead reportedly will play the racer-turned-car designer Shelby. The project is still in early stage with the script drafted by Jason Keller likely to get polished to fit the Cruise and Kosinski styling, but Fox is allegedly rushing to begin production next year.
"Public Enemies" director Michael Mann was previously attached to helm the pic. Brad Pitt was eyed to take on the lead role.
