Prince George Is Christened in London

The christening service is attended by the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Harry and Prince Charles, and Duchess of Cambridge's family members.

AceShowbiz - Three-month-old Prince George was christened in the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace on Wednesday, October 23. The future king arrived at the palace wearing a replica of Queen Victoria's daughter's christening robe at 02:30 P.M. The Duchess of Cambridge wore a cream-colored Alexander McQueen dress and was all smile as she posed for pictures with her son and husband Prince William.

The ceremony was attended by 23 people including the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Harry and Prince Charles, and Kate's family. According to sources, Prince George was on his best behavior during the 35-minute long service. A royal aide told Daily Mail that there was not "even a peep" out of Prince George during the event. "He went in smiling, came out smiling and, as far as we are aware, smiled throughout," another source added. Prince William also said similar thing, telling media, "It's the first time he's been quiet all day."

In the intimate ceremony, Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby said that Prince George "is to share the life of Christ which is in him, regardless of whom he meets, their faith or nature or habits, so that others find life." He also told the baby's parents to "make sure [George] knows who this Jesus is. Speak of him, read stories about him. Introduce him in prayer. Help him to grow and flourish into the person God has created and has called him to be."

After the service, the family celebrated the joyful occasion with a tea party in Clarence House. The bash was hosted by the 3-month-old prince's paternal grandparents. Official photos from the ceremony are likely to be released on October 24.

A few hours prior the christening, the palace announced seven names which were chosen to be Prince George's godparents. Prince William and Kate Middleton picked Zara Phillips, Prince William's first cousin, to be one of the godparents. Other names include William's childhood friend William van Cutsem, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson and Earl "Hugh" Grosvenor. Prince Harry and Kate's sister Pipa Middleton did not make the cut.
