The 'American Idol' alum picks an original composition as the new single to be released from her upcoming Christmas album.

AceShowbiz - Following the release of her rendition of the yuletide classic "White Christmas" earlier this week to usher in the holiday season ahead of the rest, country-pop-rock superstar Kelly Clarkson debuts an original composition this time around with "Underneath the Tree". First heard on Friday, October 18, the new song is the latest cut to be released from her forthcoming album "Wrapped in Red", due to hit stores on October 29.

After a slow and soulful cover of "White Christmas" for a lead single, the "American Idol" season one champion follows it up with the jolly, up-tempo "Underneath the Tree", dashed with the sound of sleigh bells and a saxophone solo. The new Christmas tune was co-written by the 31-year-old singer and Los Angeles songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Greg Kurstin who produced her hit song "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)".

"Wrapped in Red" boasts of new compositions as well as Clarkson's rendition of such classics as "Run Run Rudolph", "My Favorite Things", and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". It also features collaborations with Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood on "Silent Night" and a duet with Ronnie Dunn on "Baby, It's Cold Outside".

Aside from her Christmas album, Clarkson is also working on her seventh studio album, which will have the marriage anthem "Tie It Up", which she released a few months ago, as the lead single. Recently, she also collaborated with Robbie Williams on the track "Little Green Apples" for his upcoming album "Swings Both Ways".
