Jason talks about his past problems with alcohol and says that he 'contemplated suicide a number of times, and even attempted it once.'

AceShowbiz - Jason Wahler opens up about suicide tendency in an Huffington Post entry which was posted on Thursday, October 17. The reality star, who appeared on MTV's "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills", says that several years ago he struggled with drinking problems and had several runs-in with the law because of his bad habit.

"Behind the scenes, my addiction had led me to the deepest, darkest places. I continued to get into legal trouble, and I even tried to take my own life. I was convinced that I had it all - backpacks full of cash, girls, fame, cars, you name it," Jason says, adding that he also had great parents but he still felt unhappy.

"I was so uncomfortable in my own skin that I contemplated suicide a number of times, and even attempted it once," he reveals in the piece. Jason, however, was rushed to hospital and was saved.

Jason later joined "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" to cure his addiction. "Since my time spent with Dr. Drew, I joined AA, got a sponsor and started on the path to my own recovery," Jason explains. He also took part in Northbound Treatment Services, an organization which helps addicts to overcome the addiction by doing outdoor activities and others. "I have now been sober for three [years]," Jason confesses.

In the piece which was written before his nuptials, Jason also gushes over his wife Ashley Slack, saying that she provided tremendous support during hard times. "Ashley has supported me in my sobriety and has played a pivotal role in shaping who I am today - a man much different than the one that used to flood the airwaves with debauchery," he says. The couple tied the knot on October 13.
