'Hercules: The Legend Begins' First Full Trailer: Kellan Lutz Exiled
Movie

Lutz plays the Greek warrior who knows nothing of his real identity and must fight for his freedom to return to his love back home.

AceShowbiz - The first full-length trailer for "Hercules: The Legend Begins" has arrived, shedding more light on the plotline. It shows Hercules (Kellan Lutz) being separated from his lover Hebe, played by Gaia Weiss. As the Princess of Crete is promised to his own brother, the Demigod is shipped off to war to prevent him from ruining the marriage.

Telling the origin story of the Greek warrior, the movie follows Hercules' journey in exile as he is sold into slavery and forced to fight for the enjoyment of others. The son of Zeus was not aware of his godly ancestry. The only father he knew was King Amphitryon, the one who sent him away. Now he must find his way back home to his love and settle the score.

Of his approach in the new take on the classic tale of the legendary hero, director Renny Harlin said, "My one advice to Kellan was, because he already looked so awesome, I said, 'Let's not create a stereotype of Hercules who is just a guy with giant muscles and carries big rocks. Let's create a real character.' And I said, 'Get cut. Look great, but I don't want you to be giant.' "

The "Java Heat" actor chimed in, "There's another Hercules and already, that guy has a lot of muscles. I thought I'd make my guy a little more real and, you know, a little more slimmer," referring to rival film "Hercules: The Thracian Wars" starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

The hunky star went on, "We didn't want to make a movie that is just this brooding guy who's just going from fight to fight, and just being violent and brutish. For us, the love story was very much the heart and key to his character and his story."

The movie is planned for a March 1, 2014 release, four months before "The Thracian Wars" is released on July 25.
