The Alphabet has picked up the back-nine episodes of the action series to bring the newbie to a complete 22-episode season.

AceShowbiz - "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is picked up for a full season at ABC. On Thursday, October 10, Paul Lee, President of ABC Entertainment Group, announced that the network gave a back-nine episode order for the action drama series, bringing the show to a complete 22-episode season.

Debuting to 11.9 million viewers and a 4.7 rating among adults 18-49 against CBS' hit series "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service" and NBC's "The Voice", the Joss Whedon-co-created series opened as TV's highest-rated drama premiere since 2009 and ranks as the No. 1 new show of the 2013-14 season in the coveted demo.

The show brings back Clark Gregg's Agent Phil Coulson, who was presumed dead after the events in "The Avengers", as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. The team consists of straight arrow Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), pilot and martial artist Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), an engineer, Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), a genius bio-chemist, and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

ABC has also picked up two more episodes of "Shark Tank", bringing the total order for season five to 24 episodes. The reality series consistently wins its time period, Fridays at 9 P.M., in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos.

Another netwok, The CW, will likely extend the inaugural season of its newbies as it has reportedly ordered three additional scripts each for "The Originals", "The Tomorrow People" and "Reign".
