Coroner's report reveals the actor was taking bipolar disorder medication when he shot himself in the head.

AceShowbiz - Following his suicide last August, initial suspicions came about that "Rizzoli & Isles" star Lee Thompson Young suffered from depression leading him to take his own life with a gunshot to the head. On Tuesday, October 8, the Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed those reports, stating that the 29-year-old actor had taken medication for bipolar disorder before he committed suicide.

The coroner found lithium and quetiapine fumarate in his blood, with no traces of alcohol or drugs such as opiates or cocaine in his system. Apparently he had taken the medication before he shot himself in his right temple while seated on the couch of his North Hollywood bachelor's pad, as substantiated by the capsules and tablets previously found in his apartment.

Aside from the toxicology findings, the coroner's report also consisted of a detailed autopsy report, a description of the crime scene and statements from witnesses. Young's body was discovered after his co-workers sent police to his home after he didn't show up to the taping of "Rizzoli & Isles".

A witness corroborated the absence of alcohol and drugs in Young's system at the time of his death, saying he was "a social drinker who did not abuse narcotics." Young's doctor was also unaware if his patient had any financial problems or suicidal tendencies prior to the incident. There was no suicide note on the scene, only the caliber 40 Sig Sauer semi-automatic handgun registered to the actor.
