DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg made the lucrative proposal with an intent to create 'the greatest pay-per-view (event) in scripted television ever.'

AceShowbiz - Jeffrey Katzenberg was willing to pay $75 million for more "Breaking Bad". The CEO of DreamWorks Animation revealed at the the Mipcom mart in Cannes that six weeks ago he offered Vince Gilligan such amount of money to write three more episodes of the recently-wrapped series.
"I had this crazy idea. I was nuts for the show. I had no idea where this season was going," he said, as he became a fan of the show late into its run on AMC. "The last series cost about $3.5 million an episode. So they would make more profit from these three shows than they made from five years of the entire series."
"I said (to them), 'I'm going to create the greatest pay-per-view television event for scripted programming anybody's ever done,' " he added, sharing that his plans were to split the additional 180 minutes into six installments so they could be watched online via subscription, and to charge viewers from around 50 cents to 99 cents per episode.
"There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that millions of people would have downloaded those episodes," Katzenberg expressed his confidence as he delivered his speech about the commercial potential of short-form content online. Unfortunately, there won't be any additional episodes of "Breaking Bad" since it had been planned from last year that the eight episodes aired over the summer this year would be the last for the crime drama series.

In other news, 337 items from the show were sold for almost $1 million in an auction at ScreenBid.com. Walt's copy of "Leaves of Grass" was the item sold with the highest bid, as someone with the user name "bbadfan101" paid $65,500 for it.
