Robin French and Kieron Quirke, who created the BBC series, will pen the U.S. adaptation of the sitcom about a girl returning home with her new husband, a charming but infuriating hippie moron.

AceShowbiz - Andy Samberg's "Cuckoo" is getting a U.S. adaptation. The British series, which marks Samberg's first post-"Saturday Night Live" stint, has received a put pilot commitment from NBC.

The original series follows a girl who marries a slacker named Cuckoo during her one-year trip before she goes to college. When she comes back with her husband, her parents have no choice but to welcome the charming but infuriating hippie moron into their family home.

Robin French and Kieron Quirke, who created the BBC series, will pen the U.S. adaptation, with "The Simpsons" longtime writer Tim Long on board as showrunner. French, Quirke and Long will also serve as executive producers along with the original series' exec producers Ash Atalla and Dan Hine.

Samberg himself currently headlines FOX's new comedy series "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", where he plays a very skilled but childish NYPD detective.
