Valerie earns the lowest score of the night, during which former 'Dancing with the Stars' pro dancer Julianne fills in for Len Goodman.

AceShowbiz - There was something different in the judging panel of "Dancing with the Stars" on Monday, October 7. Former pro partner Julianne Hough sat next to regular judges Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba as head judge Len Goodman took a leave.

She oversaw the remaining 10 pairs, including Amber Riley who is paired with her brother Derek Hough. She promised that she would focus on the stars so there wouldn't be any conflict of interest.

The first pair to perform that night were Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke, who danced a quickstep. Julianne praised Jack for showing improvement but expected him to have more fun. "Still it was so good," she added. Bruno and Carrie Ann liked his frame, with the former also commending his "great" footwork. The son of rocker Ozzy Osbourne got 24 out of 30 points.

Elizabeth Berkley and Val Chmerkovskiy came out next to perform a sultry tango. Carrie Ann called it "so powerful" and she "liked the sharpness." Julianne gushed, "You have been one of my favorites from day one, Val had amazing choreography and Elizabeth took control." The actress earned 27 points.

Brant Daugherty took his shirt off while dancing a salsa with Peta Murgatroyd. They wanted to get 10s from judges but might have pushed too hard. Carrie Ann thought "the lifts were fantastic," but advised him "to work on your moves." Bruno said, "The salsa is having a good idea, but it was missing the control; you lost the technique." The "Pretty Little Liars" actor earned 21 points.

Valerie Harper didn't do well last week and wanted to move on, but didn't show much improvement this week. Her Vienesse waltz with Tristan MacManus only earned 18 points as Carrie Ann pointed out, "There were some beautiful moments, but the mistakes stood out." Julianne praised her courage, but told the veteran actress to "be more confident on your own."

Leah Remini and Tony Dovolani danced a cha cha cha. Bruno loved her attitude but told her "to stretch." Carrie Ann commented, "I love watching you, it is so great to see but some of the movements should match up to your face." Julianne agreed with Bruno about the "stretch" and with Carrie Ann about matching her body with her face. Leah got 24 points.

Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff danced a paso doble. Karina tried to make it as technical and traditional as possible, but Carrie Ann still found "that there was a little bit of hip hop that came in." Julianne loved that there were no gimmicks, but added, "Your hips were too far back." Bruno liked that "it was really powerful." The actor earned 27 points.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Sasha Farber performed a jive with cheerleader theme. Julianne and Bruno liked the performance, but the former advised her, "Make your splits and kicks sharper next time." Carrie Ann said, "Watch your arms next time, they were a little t-rex." The reality TV star earned 24 points.

Christina Milian and Mark Ballas danced a jazz. Bruno said, "It wasn't traditional but it was fantastic, you need more control." Carrie Ann chimed in, "I loved the way you transitioned but you need to work on your shoulders, but you performed the heck out of this." Julianne complained that "there were moments that were dancing side by side than together." The singer earned 24 points.

Amber Riley and her partner Derek Hough danced a tango although she had a knee injury. "You are in fine form tonight, you were both connecting and you worked on your footwork," Carrie Ann praised the "Glee" star. Julianne jokingly said, "I was hoping that something was going to go terribly wrong, but honestly holy cow this dance worked." Bruno called it "pure unmistakably the Tango." Amber earned 27 points.

The last pair, Bill Engvall and Emma Slater, danced a samba. Bruno commented, "I thought I was going to wet myself, it had everything you want in a samba except timing and rhythm." Carrie Ann added, "You bring so much joy and it was really entertaining and unique, the people love you." The comedian got 21 points.

After the judges' scores were combined with viewers' votes, it was revealed that Valerie Harper and Tristan MacManus got the boot this week. "It has been absolutely wonderful," she said, fighting back tears. "Completely unique. Like nothing else in the world that you would ever do. And it was an opportunity for me to carry a message to folks, not just with cancer, but with whatever challenge, like our song tonight -- carry on, carry on."

Tristan said, "Maybe my life was a little bit better since I met Valerie Harper," and Valerie added, "It's really a great thing to get out and dance!"
