The Comedy Central host holds the Government Shutdown Wedding of the Century on his show with Mandy Patinkin offering a nondenominational Jewish blessing for the couple.

AceShowbiz - Stephen Colbert has saved a couple's wedding, which was scratched by the American government shutdown. The TV host, who is a real-life ordained minister since 2011, officiated the wedding of Mike Cassesso and Mailien Le, who initially planned to tie the knot at the Jefferson Memorial, on "The Colbert Report" Thursday, October 3.

Dubbed the 2013 Government Shutdown Wedding of the Century, the TV wedding lasted for less than 15 minutes and was divided into two segments. Colbert threw brief bachelor and bachelorette parties and brought national park icon Smokey Bear to stand in for the best man who couldn't make it for the TV wedding.

"Homeland" star Mandy Patinkin showed up to offer a nondenominational Jewish blessing and promote his Showtime series, before the couple said their "I do". For the newlyweds' first dance, Colbert enlisted the help of Tony Award-winning actress Audra McDonald, who performed a ballad version of Billy Idol's "White Wedding".
