Movie

The 'Harry Potter' director will be working on an espionage story based on Nathan Edmonson's graphic novel, while the 'Last Stand' helmer will plan a heist based on Ed Brubaker's crime book.

AceShowbiz - Two upcoming movie projects adapted from two different books have got directors. David Yates, the man behind four of the eight "Harry Potter" films, is on board to direct the movie take on "Who Is Jake Ellis?", while "The Last Stand" helmer Kim Jee Woon is tapped to bring the "Criminal: Coward" story to the big screen.

The "Jake Ellis" project based on a comic written by Nathan Edmonson and drawn by Tonci Zonjic follows Jon Moore, a former CIA analyst and mercenary spy on the run. He is protected by the mysterious title character invisible to everyone but Jon. Fox has bought the movie rights to the spy comic. Published in 2011 by Image Comics, the book is followed by "Where is Jake Ellis?".

"Criminal: Coward", meanwhile, centers on Leo Patterson, a thief who is famous for his ability to envision many angles to pull off any heist given a small period of time. But there's a catch with him, he won't work any job that he doesn't call all the shots on. "Coward" is the first installment in Ed Brubaker's series published by Marvel Comics' Icon imprint.

Brubaker pens the screenplay for the movie, which has been in the works since 2011 with David Slade initially linked to direct. He is known for writing superhero comics like "Batman", "Daredevil", "Captain America" and "Catwoman". He won multiple Eisner Awards including two for his "Criminal" series that he works with illustrator Sean Phillips.
