AceShowbiz - "Sleepy Hollow" will stay on for a second season. FOX has renewed the rookie series after airing just three episodes, marking the first pick-up for a freshman in this fall season. The show will be back for at least 13 episodes in its second run.
"The show has proven to be a risk well worth taking. It's a conceptual blast unlike anything else on television and it all holds together with inventive writing and a fantastic cast," Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly says in a statement to announce the renewal. "I can't wait for fans to experience what else is in store for this fall and even more of this wild ride into season 2."
Debuted on Monday, October 16, the fantasy drama series is a modern-day retelling of Washington Irving's classic about Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison). He is resurrected in 2013 Sleepy Hollow, New York, but so does the Headless Horseman, whose head Ichabod chopped off before his perceived death. As the horseman begins his nightly killing spree, Ichabod must partner with Lt. Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) to protect not only Sleepy Hollow, but the world.
The show premiered to 10.1 million viewers and a 3.5 rating among adults 18-49, and grew to 13.6 million viewers after three extra days of time-shifted viewing, making it FOX's best fall debut in seven years. The second episode lost a modest 11|percent| viewers, and the latest outing drew 8 million viewers.
