The Hallmark Channel original movie, about a privileged society lady assigned as a teacher in a small 19th century coal town, will precede a new series debuting in January.

AceShowbiz - Stephen Amell channels a Royal Canadian Mountie in an upcoming Hallmark Channel original movie, "When Calls the Heart". The first trailer for the 2-hour movie has landed online, focusing on the female lead character played by Maggie Grace while offering a glimpse of the "Arrow" hunk as Wynn Delaney.

Based on Janette Oke's Canadian West book series, the movie follows Grace's Elizabeth, a new school teacher who receives a teaching assignment in a small 19th century coal town. Nothing in her cultured East Coast upbringing prepares her for the position on the Canadian frontier.

As she decides whether to accept it, and then makes the journey there accompanied by the handsome young Mountie, the wealthy young woman finds courage in the secret diary of her late aunt, who also had a teaching post in the western frontier and a similar love interest.

The TV movie will premiere Saturday, October 19 at 9/8c and serves as a prequel to a Hallmark original series slated to launch in January.
