AceShowbiz - Although slow and quiet in development, "Friday the 13th" sequel is still happening despite being declared having a dead end back in 2010. Paramount Pictures has regained full rights to the horror story this summer, and now a scoop on the new movie is circulating on the internet.
Producers for the movie may be looking to make the next release on a shoestring budget. According to Shock Till You Drop, the upcoming second installment of the cult scary movie will use "found footage" like "Paranormal Activity", another horror series set at Paramount.
The first "Friday the 13th" movie was released in 2009 with Michael Bay as one of the producers. A reboot of the classic horror story of the same name that was started by Paramount in 1980, the slasher movie chronicled the brutal killing of a group of youngsters by the serial killer with a razor sharp machete.
Starring Derek Mears, Jared Padalecki and Amanda Righetti, the scary movie grossed nearly $100 million worldwide. Although a sequel is still hard in the works, it has already spawned a crossover story with another cult slasher pic "A Nightmare on Elm Street" in 2003's "Freddy vs Jason".
Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes production company will still be involved in the upcoming project, even though it has switched studios.
