The trailer is released before the biopic about 'Rebel Without a Cause and Exodus' star Sal Mineo arrives in selected theaters on November 1.

AceShowbiz - After being premiered at the Venice Film Festival two years ago, James Franco-directed drama "Sal" about late actor Sal Mineo is finally heading to theaters. Thanks to Tribeca Films, it is now due for limited release on November 1.

The first trailer for the biopic has been released to build anticipation for what's to come. Through Franco's lens, the video gives glimpses at the final day in the life of openly-gay Mineo as he was trying to revive his career before being stabbed to death in 1976.

Mineo rose to stardom as a teen idol in the 1950s and got an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor through his roles in "Rebel Without a Cause and Exodus". But he struggled with his career after coming out of the closet in the sixties.

Led by Val Lauren, the film has Vince Jolivette, Jim Parrack, Trevor Neuhoff, Stacey Miller and Raymond T. Williams in supporting roles. The "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" actor also has a small role, playing director Milton Katselas.
