The decision to work on the album while on tour is made 'as part of the deal' that the British-Irish boyband does with Simon Cowell and his Syco records.

AceShowbiz - One Direction's "Midnight Memories" hasn't arrived yet, but the group has planned to work on the follow-up to the album. The quintet is reportedly planning to record their fourth album while hitting the road for their Where We Are tour next year.
"One Direction will travel with their own studio in tow when they play stadium dates," a source told The Sun newspaper. "It's going to cost a few quid but then, considering the amount of cash they're making on the tour, they can afford it."
"The boys are all writing more and more themselves these days so it will allow them to develop as songwriters," the source continued and explained that the decision to record the album on the road was made "as part of the deal" with Simon Cowell's Syco Records.
"Because of the shows across the globe they'll have no time out to record so this is the best way to get the fourth album done," the source added. "It was all worked out as part of the deal they did with Simon Cowell and Syco records earlier this month."
One Direction recently signed a new deal with Simon Cowell's record label. As part of the deal, which is worth an estimated £10 million, the group will have three more albums, two in the studio and one greatest hits compilation. They will also continue to tour extensively.
Harry Styles and his bandmates are currently gearing up to release their third studio effort, "Midnight Memories". The album, which features No.1 hit "Best Song Ever", is due out on November 25.
