AceShowbiz - FOX has released the first two teasers for "The Following" season 2 to tide fans over its January return. Making their way out via EW.com, one of the videos teases the reveal of a new face of evil with a shot of a melting Poe mask. The second promo has an image of a fiery shape of a bird and features a tagline which reads, "The next chapter will change everything."

Flame was indeed a big part in the season 1 finale of the thriller series as the antagonist, Joe Carroll, was seen being engulfed in flames after a showdown with FBI Agent Ryan Hardy. Despite the incident that could hint at the villain's deadly fate, James Purefoy who plays Carroll is confirmed to return in the second installment. The actor, however, played coy when asked about the future of his character, saying that he signed up for season 2, but "that's not a guarantee."

Natalie Zea's Claire Matthews will also survive a near-death experience in "The Final Chapter" which aired in late April. The actress said she wanted Claire to undergo a transformation, explaining, "I feel like what would need to happen would be a change to her DNA. In other words, she might have to break bad a little bit. Although I don't know if anyone besides me would want that."

Fifteen new episodes of "The Following" season 2 will air in midseason.
