'Foxcatcher' First Teaser Trailer: Steve Carell Is Schizophrenic Coach
Movie

The 'Office' comedian plays a paranoia coach whose obsession to create a dream team takes a disturbing turn with him killing his longtime friend.

AceShowbiz - A first teaser trailer for true-story drama "Foxcatcher" has landed online, giving a look at Steve Carell like people have never seen before. Aside from his dramatic transformation with grey hair, baggy clothing, and a prosthetic nose, he is also pushing himself to channel his inner dark side as convicted murderer John Eleuthere du Pont.

An eccentric multi-millionaire and sports enthusiast, du Pont is determined to create a dream team for the Olympics. The video gives a sneak peek inside his facility as he takes wresting athlete Mark Schultz under his wing. "Coach is a father. Coach is a mentor. Coach has great power on an athlete's life," so the self-described patriot says in a voiceover.

Based on an autobiography by real-life Olympic wrestling gold medalist Mark, the film depicts the chilling story of du Pont's obsession for sport glory which ended with the tragic demise of Mark's brother and du Pont's longtime pal, Dave, who's also a pro wrestler. The real-life du Pont was found guilty, though mentally ill, of killing Dave. The coach died in December 2010 in jail.

Coming from director Bennett Miller ("Moneyball", "Capote"), the movie is due in theaters sometime in 2014. Of choosing Carrell for the disturbing role, the director reasoned, "John du Pont was a character who nobody thought was capable of doing something as horrible as he did. And I did not want to cast somebody who would feel dangerous in that way."

Mark Ruffalo plays Dave, Channing Tatum is his on-screen brother Mark, and Sienna Miller portrays Dave's wife.
