Rock the Bells Festival Cancels Remaining Dates Due to 'Lack of Ticket Sales'

The annual hip-hop event, which would feature appearances from Wu-Tang Clan, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar among others, cancels its upcoming shows in Washington D.C. and New York City.

AceShowbiz - Rock the Bells festival has canceled four remaining shows, which were supposed to take place in Washington D.C. and New York City this weekend and next weekend, respectively. Festival organizer Guerilla Union announced the cancellation on Thursday, September 26.

"First and foremost, it is with great sadness and disappointment that we must cancel the Washington, DC and New York City Rock the Bells dates due to lack of ticket sales," festival founder and owner Chang Weisberg said in a statement. "I, along with our staff, the artists, and all of the sponsors, media partners, local promoters, and radio stations involved are thankful for our supporters and the fans that planned on attending."

Weisberg went on explaining that he had tried to keep the concerts going as planned. "Unfortunately, the financial loss would have been devastating," Wesberg said. "I am truly sorry we could not produce the show for all the fans who did buy their ticket in support of."

Annual Rock the Bells festival, which is one of the biggest hip-hop events, kicked off in early September. It was set to feature appearances from Wu-Tang Clan, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and other hip-hop artists.

Tickets for the axed shows will be refunded "at the location where fans purchased their tickets."
