The 'Like a Virgin' singer covers the late singer's song after she is dramatically dragged onstage as part of the premiere of her 'SecretProjectRevolution' short film in New York.

AceShowbiz - Madonna premiered her new film project entitled "SecretProjectRevolution" on Tuesday night, September 24. During the event, the 55-year-old singer also took the stage at the Gagosian Gallery in New York to perform a cover of Elliott Smith's "Between the Bars".
The dramatic performance began with Madonna being dragged onto the stage by two actors who dressed as police officers. With both of her hands being cuffed, she sang the emotional song alone in the middle of the stage before a dancer in an all-black outfit and mask stormed the stage to free her.
The performance concluded with the dancer removing his balaclava to reveal his identity. The dancer turned out to be Rocco Ritchie, Madonna's 13-year-old son with ex-husband Guy Ritchie.
"SecretProjectRevolution" is a 17-minute film, which is available for free download via BitTorent. Madonna and photographer Steven Klein teamed up to produce the film.
"This film, aside from my children, is to me the most important thing I've ever done," Madonna said before the film screening and performance. "The idea of being free, and being able to express myself, not only as an artist but as a human being, is extremely important, and I do not take my freedom for granted."
"And it seems to me, when I travel around the world, that people are either not free and are fighting for it, or are free and taking it for granted. And both of those situations make me extremely agitated," she continued.
The event was attended by several big names, including Anderson Cooper, Perez Hilton, Lucy Liu, Zachary Quinto, Donna Karan, Lindsay Lohan and Madonna's ex-husband Sean Penn. Madonna and Penn, who were married for four years back in 1980s, were seen hugging and posing together.
