The 'Silver Linings Playbook' actress will team up with the 'Hunger Games' director for big-screen take on John Steinbeck's classic novel and Hannah Kent's new book.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Lawrence is expected to reunite with "The Hunger Games" director Gary Ross in two upcoming movie projects. Deadline reports she will star in movie adaptations of John Steinbeck's 1952 book "East of Eden" and Hannah Kent's new novel "Burial Rites".

The classic Steinbeck story set around the World War I period was first adapted into the big screen in 1955 by director Elia Kazan. A retelling of the Biblical story of Cain and Abel, it revolves around a family with two sons vying for their father's affection in California's Salinas Valley.

Lawrence reportedly will portray the mother originally played by Jo Van Fleet. She won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for the role back then. James Dean and Richard Davalos played the rivaling sons in the earlier movie. Deen was nominated for best actor, Kazan for Directing, and Paul Osborn for Best Writing.

In the "Burial Rites" pic, meanwhile, Lawrence will play Agnes Magnusdottir, a young woman falsely convicted of murder and sentenced to death in Iceland, a case that later changed the criminal justice system in the country. Released summer this year, the book is inspired by a true haunting story happening in the country back in 1829.

Ross, Lawrence and producer Allison Shearmur will begin shopping the project to studios next week.

Fresh off her Academy Award win for Best Actress for her role in movie adaptation of Matthew Quick's novel "Silver Linings Playbook", Lawrence will next be seen in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and "American Hustle", scheduled for November and December releases this year respectively.

She is currently busy filming the last two installments of the "Hunger Games" series with "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" set for November 21, 2014 and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2" to follow November 20, 2015. Her other new projects also include "X-Men: Days of Future Past" due summer next year.
