'Breaking Bad' Creator Vince Gilligan's Cops Drama Picked Up by CBS

Gilligan and 'House M.D.' creator David Shore team up to write the updated version of the 'Battle Creek' pilot, which was first developed by Gilligan in 2002.

After wrapping up the story arc of meth dealer Walter White on "" this Sunday, Vince Gilligan is going to focus on a police drama next. His new TV project, "", has landed on CBS with a 13-episodes series order for the 2014-15 season.

Gilligan first developed the show in 2002 for CBS. Now, he is working with "" creator David Shore to write the updated version of the pilot. Gilligan is reportedly also interested to direct the pilot.

The story revolves around two detectives with very different world views who are teamed up. They must answer the question: is cynicism, guile and deception enough to clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, Michigan in the face of a complete lack of resources; or is the exact opposite true - it takes naivete, trust and a boatload of resources?

Gilligan and Shore will team up with "Breaking Bad" executive producer Mark Johnson to executive produce "Battle Creek". Shore is additionally on board as showrunner for the upcoming series.

CBS passed on the dark drama more than a dedace ago. After FX also decided not to move forward with it years ago, CBS' current CEO John Landgraf agreed to give a greenlight to the cops drama.
