Apple Offers Refunds to Irked 'Breaking Bad' Fans Over Misleading Season Pass

Apple issues a $22.99 credit to customers who have purchased the fifth season of the AMC series only to find out that the last eight episodes are offered as separate 'Final Season.'

AceShowbiz - Apple iTunes tries to redeem "Breaking Bad" fans' rage by offering a refund. The tech giant has issued a $22.99 iTunes credit to customers, who were angry that they purchased "Season 5" of "Breaking Bad" but had to pay another $22.99 for the last eight episodes offered as a separate package named "The Final Season".

Apple sends an e-mail to its customers and it reads, "We apologize for any confusion the naming of 'Season 5' and 'The Final Season' of Breaking Bad might have caused you. While the names of the seasons and episodes associated with them were not chosen by iTunes, we'd like to offer you 'The Final Season' on us by providing you with the iTunes code below in the amount of $22.99. This credit can also be used for any other content on the iTunes Store."

Before Apple takes such action, a "Breaking Bad" fan, Noam Lazebnik, filed a federal class action against the company, alleging its iTunes service "deceived" him when he purchased a "Season Pass" to watch "Breaking Bad". The plaintiff said that he "relied upon Apple's promise that the Season Pass would include all current and future episodes of season five."

The lawsuit was filed on September 16. Lazebnik's attorney Nicholas DiCello refuses to say whether or not the refunds will lead his client to drop the lawsuit. DiCello says Apple hasn't reached to him, but sees the refunds offered to some customers "as a positive development in response to the class action case that we filed."

AMC split the final season of "Breaking Bad", with the first half airing last year. The second half, which also contains eight episodes, premiered last August and will conclude on September 29. The show was named Oustanding Drama Series at the recent Primetime Emmy Awards.

The cast, including Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn, as well as series creator Vince Gilligan stopped by "CONAN" on September 24, during which they gave away free "meth" to audience. Conan O'Brien also spoofed the drama series on his talk show's cold open.
