Jim Carrey Releases Children's Book 'How Roland Rolls'

Jim's first children's book tells the story of a wave named Roland who's afraid that his life will be over when he hits the beach.

AceShowbiz - Jim Carrey is going to release an inspirational children's book along with a four-song EP on September 24. The 64-page children's book is called "How Roland Rolls". According to the "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" actor, the book tells the story of a wave named Roland, who is afraid that he will die when he hits the beach.

"But when he gets deep, he's struck by the notion that he's not just a wave - he's the whole big, wide ocean! It shows humanity's interconnectedness through the metaphor of a wave in the ocean," the actor says in a statement.

Jim also reveals that the book was inspired by his personal story. "When I was a child, my parents were smokers and I had a deep fear that they would pass ... and then what would happen to me? I think that's a common fear for children - the fear of loss. It's an early existential crisis, if you will. But when we realize that beneath the surface of things - the activities of our lives - we are all connected, all one energy, that fear of loss gets softened. At times, it disappears entirely. At least that's been true for me," he explains.

The idea of Roland showed up in Jim's mind when he was watching the waves on the beach. As he started thinking of the waves as people, he realized that "the waves were all going in the same direction, just like us. With my book I want to share the joy of life as an eternal and internal experience."

An enhanced e-book will be released on November 19. The EP will also be available on iTunes.
