The 'Grey's Anatomy' star says the Sunday ceremony 'felt so dated' and calls the dance number 'embarassing.'

AceShowbiz - Ellen Pompeo was not impressed by the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards telecast. In fact, the actress has slammed this year's biggest TV event for lack of diversity, admitting that she "was really disappointed" by the show.

"I didn't see any diversity in the Emmys at all. The Emmys felt so dated to me," she said in an interview on Monday, September 23. "That dance number was embarrassing. Did you see one person of color in that dance number?"

Unlike the Emmys, Pompeo is proud of diversity on her show "Grey's Anatomy". The Meredith Grey of the ABC medical series said, "I'm extremely proud of our very, very diverse cast which represents the world that I walk around in every day."

Pompeo has never earned an Emmy award nor nomination, but her long-running series has received more than 20 Emmy nominations. "Grey's" won four Emmys so far, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Katherine Heigl who has exited the show. "Grey's" wasn't nominated at this year's Emmys.

The Sunday, September 22 ceremony delivered a huge number of audience for CBS, with a total of 17.6 million people watching the show. It's a 33 percent increase from last year's ceremony which was broadcast on ABC, CBS says.

Despite the big viewership, the telecast was panned by critics. David Bianculli who runs the Tvworthwatching.com says, "The thing I regretted about it most is that I've never seen a show that presented fewer clips from actual TV programs when they needed it more than ever." The Hollywood Reporter's David Rooney, meanwhile, calls the show "wildly hit and miss."
