Report: Daniel Radcliffe to Replace Sacha Baron Cohen in Freddie Mercury Biopic
Movie

Following the departure of the 'Borat' actor, the 'Kill Your Darlings' star reportedly 'has been told the part is his if he wants it.'

AceShowbiz - Daniel Radcliffe, 24, could play the late Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury, in upcoming biopic if the Daily Star could be trusted. The "Harry Potter" actor has reportedly been offered the lead role after "Borat" star Sacha Baron Cohen left the project due to creative differences.

"Daniel has been told the part is his if he wants it," a source says. "Despite his youth, Daniel impressed movie bosses with his portrayal of gay poet Allen Ginsburg in this year's movie 'Kill Your Darlings'. Plus, he's closer in height to Freddie than Sacha, who's much taller. Daniel can really sing, too."

Cohen reportedly had disagreement with the remaining members of the rock band about the portrayal of the iconic rocker who died of complications from AIDS in 1991. While he was said envisioning it to be a gritty R-rated look at the life of the singer, the band's members allegedly wanted it to be a PG one.

Since the "Harry Potter" movie series which propelled his name to stardom ended, Radcliffe has broken free from the boy wizard image. The British actor played a lead role in 2012's horror pic "The Woman in Black" and will next be seen in dark fantasy thriller "Horns".

He also branched out to stage acting, appearing in the London and New York productions of "Equus", and then in the Broadway revival of the musical "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying".
