The daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith addresses the controversy over the song and dedicates it to 'kids around the world whose summer is never long enough.'

AceShowbiz - Queen Latifah kicked off the first season of her new daytime show entitled "The Queen Latifah Show" on Monday, September 16. The 43-year-old singer invited singer Willow Smith to perform on the very first episode of the show.

Smith, who is the daughter of actor Will Smith and actress Jada Pinkett Smith, appeared to perform "Summer Fling", a track she sings with her band Melodic Chaotic. When it was released earlier this summer, the song was criticized for being too mature to be sung by a 12-year-old girl.

The lyrics features Willow singing about her having a crush on someone. The music video is also controversial since it sees Willow holding hands, hugging, cuddling and flirting with a seemingly much older boy.

When performing the song on Queen Latifah's show, Smith addressed the controversy. Before singing the first verse, she explained what she meant by "fling" in the song. In a British accent, she said, "Just for clarity, the word fling means something that's short lived. And this song is dedicated to all the kids around the world whose summer is never long enough."
